when i work on photoshop CS 8.0, the clone stamp tool, which is supposed to be a circle, sometimes becomes like a little cross with a dot in the middle. how can i change it back to a circle?

You have played with the preferences.
Go to Edit, then preferences, look for the brushes and change ''other brushes'' back to standard instead of cross hair.
