Can anyone confirm that photoshop elements is a good cheap student software alternative to photoshop

for study purposes is photoshop elements good enough as oppose to having to fork out hundreds for photoshop itself, whilst learning digital imaging. Answers gratefully received

Well, I use the old Photoshop Elements 2.0 and would not change it for Photoshop - but if I was a professional photographer?

I would have to say that you are better off going with Photoshop. Firstly because the student version is much less than the retail version, and it's worth buying it while you can get that discount.



Secondly, Elements is about %20 the program of full blown Photoshop. It has %20 the options, abilities, and if that is all you learn on, you will be stuck with %20 of the skills.



You need to take advantage of being is school to learn as much as you can about the FULL version of Photoshop, if you ever plan on putting it on your resume. Mostly because it is a program that is re-released about once every one and a half to two years, and if you aren't familiar with the program as a whole, learning the new items can be much harder. And jobs will expect you to be able to keep up with all of the new abilities.
